#1 Barifinkle/Team Sit on My Face 54 - #16 NWA 37
IT WAS OVER WHEN...	GAME BALL GOES TO...	QUOTE
NWA showed up with 4 guys, and Chris Sweitzer helped them out by playing for them. Sweitzer starred for NWA, in what will surely be their best game all year, while Conor Healy shined for Barifinkle/Team Sit on My Face.	"The Irish Swingman" Conor Healy. As predicted, it was all Healy in this one, scoring 22 in Barifinkle's 13th straight win, since the team was created for Junior Night League. Cory Berceau added 15 for the defending champs.	"Become a Fanilow" - Adam Gutman, trying to attract viewers to Barifinkle + Marty Heck and Gutman (named Barry Manilow and Co.) dance tomorrow during dance day, periods 5 + 7.

#4 The Express 39 - #2 The Bomb Squad 34
IT WAS OVER WHEN...	GAME BALL GOES TO...	QUOTE
John Haller was able to utilize screens from teammates and make easy lay-ups. Jeff Dsida was frustrated with his team's lack of helpside D, resulting in John Haller lay-ups. However, John got a lot of help this week from brother Matt, with a season high 10, Randy Petcov with 6, and Tim Denenberg not only adding 4 points, but double digit rebounds for The Express.	John Haller. He led all scorers with 16 points. Dsida and Matt Traub led the Bomb Squad with virtually all their points. However, The Bomb Squad's poor shooting performance stopped them from winning. Down 9 at the half, The Express was able to control 2nd half tempo, and make sure The Bomb Squad couldn't get back in it. Although Dsida was productive in the post at the end, it was too late.	"My winter break is officially ruined" - Jeff Dsida, not happy with the outcome.

#3 Tallula 26 - #6 Ortega 20
IT WAS OVER WHEN...	GAME BALL GOES TO...	QUOTE
Tallula was the better team, and led the entire time. Even without stars Connor O'Halleran and Teddy Challenger, they were able to win. The score indicates a closer game than it was, with Ortega capitalizing on free throws near the end. George Lopez made sure this game stayed low scoring, calling touch fouls wherever he could.	Jeremy Rosenfeld. Rosenfeld had 11 in a low-scoring affair. James Knight added just a few less for Tallula, who used the line as a motivator for this game. Tallula goes to 3-0 now, setting up a great match-up next week against Barifinkle.	"You guys are supposed to be the best game of the night, but no, you guys suck!" - The Ref

#5 Theo 41 - #14 Supreme Court 18

Walt Lyon dominated an undersized Supreme Court. With a self-proclaimed "triple-double", Walt was able to win this one for team Theo.	Despite Walt's good game, it was a team effort for Theo. Their defense was top-notch, limiting Supreme Court to just 12 points, before they started "jacking around" at the end of the game.	"We're waiting for you, Barifinkle" - Walt Lyon

QUOTE Andrew Roche and TJ Keene, Medieval Times' two tallest players, were sidelined for the game with injuries. That left Medieval Times as the shortest team in the league, versus the tallest team in the league in Re-Elect Judge Jim Wascher. Judge Jim knocked down some key free throws at the end as well. Connor Smith. The tall rower contributed 5 blocks to Judge Jim Wascher's defensive attack, forcing some outside shots in the later stages. It was 17-17, but Judge Jim Wascher used their height to pound at a much shorter Medieval Times, whose tallest player is shorter than Judge Jim's shortest player. "Guys the spread is eight, your not gonna cover!" - TJ Keene Up Next: Medieval Times vs. Boo Radley. Jim Wascher vs. Phase 4. #8 Boo Radley and Friends 33 - #17 Phase 4 28 IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO... QUOTE Boo Radley realized they might lose to the #17 team in the league, and go 0-3. After a 15-15 knot at half, Boo Radley's defense provided a momentum shift, with some steals and breakaway lay-ups. Michael Krasnow, after being cut by The Bullets, and being diagnosed as half-blind, makes Phase 4 a much more legitimate team. Spencer Levin. Levin clinched a close one for Boo Radley with some clutch free throws in the closing stretch. Overall though it was a balanced scoring attack. Levin had 12, Nic Boury, David Winter, Jared Sperling all had 6, and Alex Lappin made an appearance and scored 2. "It came down to free throws and we couldn't produce. Phase 4 vs. Jim Wascher. #9 Mallard Magic 32 - #13 McGarry Dangles Inc. 21 IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO... QUOTE McGarry Dangles scored only 5 points in the first half. Brian Frett. Frett recorded a double double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. The former varsity player still has something to prove to a lot of people out there, but this week was a step in the right direction for both Frett and Mallard Magic. "This team dangles like Voit on ice" - Gordie Campbell, comparing Stu Voit's less than stellar skating skills to team McGarry. Up Next: Mallard Magic vs. BYE. McGarry Dangles vs. Ortega. #12 The Bullets 59 - #18 Off In The Woods 41 Robert Gorodetsky had 33 in the win for the Bullets. Ben Mirkin contributed 16 for The Bullets. The kid could be the best spot up shooter in the school. Jared Hammernik's 16 weren't enough as Off In The Woods dropped to 0-3, but in my eyes, they have separated themselves from Hank Mardukas in the discussion for worst team in the league. The Bullets move to 1-2. #15 Coot's Coot 54 - #19 Hank Mardukas 35 IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO... QUOTE Hank Mardukas signed Danny McGowan to their team. McGowan is the team's third best player, behind James Bartels and Chris Reagan. Both teams utilized the alley-oop all game. Jack Russell. Give the kid credit, he played the game of his life for Coot's Coot, knocking down more shots than in the rest of his life combined. Mike Ahern's late perimeter shooting wasn't enough for Hank Mardukas. "Regardless of score, this is a win for Hank Mardukas, and Mike Ahern is the closest thing to street ball Night League has to offer" - James Bartels Up Next: Coot's Coot vs. The Bomb Squad. Week 3 Preview

#1 Barifinkle/Team Sit On My Face (-40) vs. #16 NWA

Barifinkle comes out of the bye week with winless NWA. Formerly Ba Dunk-A-Dunk, NWA is 0-9 in regular season games since the beginning of last year, and this one won't be any different. Conor Healy is the early favorite for player of the game.

GAME OF THE WEEK #2 The Bomb Squad (-5) vs. #4 The Express

A battle between two of the best teams in the league: The Express has been questioned due to their lack of a big man, and although unanimously #2 in the polls, The Bomb Sqaud still isn't near Barifinkle in the eyes of the league. A win here could go a long way for each team's #1 quest. Brantner Jones is doubtful with a pinkie injury, Willy Moore is questionable, and Mike Hermanson is out. John Haller has scored over 56% of The Express' points this season, and Jeff Dsida should be able to limit that scoring. The Express is gonna need back up scoring if they want a chance.

#3 Tallula (pick) vs. #6 Ortega

James Knight and Tallula's first real test. Ortega has breezed through Weeks 1 & 2, and have climbed to 6 in the polls. Ortega's height will prevent Knight from effortlessly driving like he was able to do vs. The Bullets and Off In The Woods. Reid Berry has emerged as somebody to watch for Ortega, and they will also bank on Ben Morton and Dillon Oberlin to provide scoring. We'll see if James will be able to score 24 again, this time against a real team.

#5 Theo (-13) vs. #14 Supreme Court

Theo should have no problem going to 3-0 vs. Supreme Court. Although they will be missing Harry Furse, Joe Lankford, and Nick Nykaza, Walt Lyon should be unstoppable down low for Theo. If John Secaras can contest shots and limit Walt even a little, Theo will have a hard time finding scorers, and Supreme Court can keep this one close.

#7 Medieval Times vs. #10 Re-Elect Judge Jim Wascher (-8)

Medieval Times is missing TJ Keene, and Andrew Roche, this year's Twin Towers. Mike Sopko, Alex Hankin, and Joey Madej will have to deal with a lot less rebounds, especially against a surprisingly tall Re-Elect Judge Jim Wascher. Judge Jim has rolled to victories Weeks 1 & 2, and could prove something to voters with another win this week. Medieval Time's biggest issue will be dealing with 6'4" John Cook, and 6'2" Jack Wascher and Scott Gantner. If they can keep the game fast-paced, they should have a good shot, but if Re-Elect Judge's big guys are able to get settled, and grab rebounds, it could be a long day.

#8 Boo Radley and Friends (-21) vs. #17 Phase 4

Boo Radley, after starting against #2 The Bomb Squad and #4 The Express, and scaring both, will finally get a win, and step closer to securing a spot in the A bracket. Unfortunately, the playoffs are seeded by just wins and losses, and right now, a good Boo Radley team is at 0-2. However, Lucas Kulkulka and Sam Shapiro shouldn't be able to stop Justin Horwitz and Spencer Levin in the slightest.

#9 Mallard Magic (-8) vs. #13 McGarry Dangles Inc.

Both teams lost to Theo: Mallard Magic by 3, and McGarry Dangles by 6 (albeit Harry Furse played against Mallard Magic, and not McGarry Dangles). Mallard Magic is the better team, but this is by no means a gimme win. Danny Malkin has proved he can score in bulk, and McGarry Dangles can take out the threat of Brian Frett by keeping it on the wings, and relying on jump shots to win this game. If McGarry Dangles gets hot shooting, this could be very close.

#12 The Bullets (-24) vs. #18 Off In The Woods

The Bullets, like Boo Radley, find themselves a good team at 0-2. They need to start winning games, and they need to win back the confidence of the voters. After getting annihilated by Ortega, I'm still not sure if Ortega is good, or if The Bullets are awful. However, nobody will be able to tell because Off In The Woods won't be able to put up a fight, at least I hope not. Last week, they killed the spread, with Tallula claiming to have given up. We'll see with The Bullets this week, as I know Robert Gorodetsky wants to pad those stats, and run the score up.

#15 Coot's Coot (-14) vs. #19 Hank Mardukas

In a classic battle of two horrible teams, Coot's Coot could distinguish themselves from the race for last place by winning big. Hank Mardukas hit an all-time low last week, suffering a 53 throttling by Medieval Times, while Coot's Coot still looks like they have some sort of potential. Whoever wins this matchup will ensure themselves a 1-8 year, and not last place in the league. I think it's gonna be tough for Hank Mardukas to put up any points, but you never know with Danny McGowan's streaky shooting.

#2 The Bomb Squad 50 - #17 Phase 4 16

Phase 4 didn't win the tip, and The Bomb Squad went on a 22-2 run to finish the half, making it 22-2 at half. Also when Nicholas Rachmaninoff had 10 rebounds, a career-high.	Peter Lind. Lind had an unusual double double with 14 points and 15 steals. Phase 4 isn't best known for their ball-handling, and Lind took advantage of that right from the start.	"I dropped 7. Not satisfied. #3 The Express 17 - #5 Boo Radley and Friends 15
IT WAS OVER WHEN...	GAME BALL GOES TO...	QUOTE
John Haller hit a floater with 5 seconds left to break a 15-15 tie. Once again, a low scoring game due to George Lopez reffing the game. The man calls every touch foul that can possibly be called.	John Haller, and the Express' shut down defense. Haller had 13 of the 17 Express points, and led the Express' 2-3 defense. The Express went with zone knowing nobody could stick to Spencer Levin.	"Take a seat!" - George Lopez to Spencer Levin, threatening to eject Boo Radley's star player. However, Levin ended up staying in the game.

#4 Tallula 36 - #18 Off In The Woods 24
IT WAS OVER WHEN...	GAME BALL GOES TO...	QUOTE
Tallula realized they were much better than Off In The Woods. Obviously nobody on their team bet them against the spread because they didn't even come close to covering their 43 point spread.	James Knight. Knight replicated his Week 1 effort, scoring 24 points to maintain his season average. Mac Tucker wasn't as enthusiastic as James, citing a Connor Murphy fart as his reason for goofing off.	"Snyder's a wild stallion that needs to be tamed" - Connor O'Halleran

#6 Theo 33 - #13 McGarry Dangles Inc. 27
IT WAS OVER WHEN...	GAME BALL GOES TO...	QUOTE
Walt Lyon knocked down his free throws. Walt made 6 straight free throws at the end of the game to clinch it for Theo. At 27-25, McGarry Dangles couldn't score, and were forced to foul Lyon, who knocked them both down. Walt didn't flinch after McGarry Dangles scored making it 29-27, ending the game on 4 for 4 shooting from the charity stripe.	Walt Lyon. Walt showed that he will be the new leading scorer, contributing 28 of Theo's 33 points. When Danny Malkin had 10 at the break, Walt called for a Box and 1 defense on Malkin. Malkin wasn't as productive due to the new defensive set, and it game Theo just enough cushion to win it.	"Mills' lack of production was key" - Walt Lyon, acknowledging another reason why Theo prevailed.

QUOTE Robert Gorodetsky stopped knocking down long shots. It was 29-22 Ortega at the half, The Bullets still close due to Gorodetsky's shooting (14 points), but in the second half it was all Ortega. Reid Berry. Berry had 17 including 10 second chance points. His offensive rebounding skill caused a big upset. The Bullets were a big favorite in this game, and at 0-2, are looking like they'll take a big hit in the Week 2 polls. "I can beat anybody in the school 1 on 1" - Robert Gorodetsky, after the 25 point loss. Up Next: The Bullets vs. Off In The Woods. Ortega vs. Tallula. #8 Mallard Magic & The Funky Bunch 37 - #14 Supreme Court 22 IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO... QUOTE Alex Nadolna played PG for Mallard Magic. Much like Tallula, Mallard Magic was the much better team in this matchup, and didn't need to exert full effort in order to win. Alex Porter. He was hitting mid-range jumpers like Goran Suton, an unusual shooting touch from the normally out of control Porter. In other news, Christian Sarkisian was ejected for taking out Nick Dronen, after he thought Dronen took out Ryder Borre, but Chris Williams really took out Borre. "We beat the spread and caused an ejection. We'll take the moral victory" - John Secaras Up Next: Mallard Magic vs. McGarry Dangles Inc. Supreme Court vs. Theo. #9 Medieval Times 66 - #19 Hank Mardukas 13 IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO... QUOTE Medieval Times went on a 32-0 run to end the first half up 32-1. They couldn't keep up the torrent pace, winning by a margin of 66-13. Last year, Medieval Times won by 58 vs. Boo Radley, adn this year, it's 53. Week 2 suits Medieval times I guess. James Bartels. Bartels was talking trash to Alex Hankin, thinking an upset was in order, saying,"Hubris is a term used in modern English to indicate overweening pride, haughtiness, or arrogance, often resulting in fatal retribution or Nemesis. See you on the court". Turns out he was wrong. "If Roche could've made a lay-up, we would've dropped 100" - Mike Maley, disgusted that Andrew Roche couldn't convert on "30" lay-ups. QUOTE NWA (formerly Ba Dunk-A-Dunk) an 0-8 team from last year lost their best player John Secaras. They could compete with Hank Mardukas for worst team in the league. Alex Wislow. The new acquisition for AD is producing, impressing Barifinkle/Team Sit on My Face, and now going double digits on NWA. Watch out for Wislow and AD to maybe make a postseason run like last year. NWA vs. Barifinkle/Team Sit on My Face. #12 Re-Elect Judge Jim Wascher 51 - #15 Coot's Coot 16 IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO... QUOTE Re-Elect Judge Jim Wascher figured out Coot's Coot's defense to the point where they scored on every trip down the court. Ben Burgess. Burgess had 17 in an effortless win for Judge Jim Wascher. Their average margin of victory so far this year is 36, winning 50-13 last week. However, both Coot's Coot and Hank Mardukas are leading candidates for worst team in Night League. "Coot's Coot. Coot's Coot" - A slow chant Coot's Coot says while their opponents are attempting free throws. Wasn't as effective as planned in Weeks 1 and 2. Up Next: Wascher vs. Medieval Times. Coot's Coot vs. Hank Mardukas.

Week 2 Preview

#1 Barifinkle/Team Sit on My Face vs. BYE

#2 The Bomb Squad (-30) vs. #17 Phase 4

The Bomb Squad will probably choose to not risk any further injury to Willy Moore by benching him this game, in what seems to be a sure win. Phase 4 won't have an answer for Jeff Dsida or Matt Traub, and this should be a blowout. Morgan D'Arcy (eye) and Sam Shapiro (ankle) are both questionable for Wednesday.

GAME OF THE WEEK #3 The Express (-4) vs. #5 Boo Radley and Friends

Last year, Boo Radley won 38-24 in a surprising upset. This year, Boo Radley looks to be better than ever, suffering just a 2 point loss to the Bomb Squad last week without recently reinstated Justin Horwitz, back from his suspension for Week 2. Due to illness, The Express will be without Mike Hermanson, and will need production from Randy Petcov and Tim Denenberg. Whether The Express will be able to win this one will hinge on their ability to stop Spencer Levin.

#4 Tallula (-43) vs. #18 Off In The Woods

James Knight, coming off 24 points last week vs. The Bullets, will feast on an Off In The Woods team that lacks any sort of defensive or offensive presence. Knight will be looking to dunk again this week, and I could see him easily scoring 40 points. If Ortega can put up 53 against Off In The Woods, there's no reason Tallula can't put up 70.

#6 Theo (-9) vs. #13 McGarry Dangles Inc.

Theo will be without Harry Furse, Joe Lankford, and Nick Nykaza this week. Walt Lyon's rebounding and post game will have to shoulder the load along with Charlie Polan's speed and Dylan Sklare's jump shooting. McGarry Dangles Inc. could win this one if they get a lot of production from Danny Malkin who had 16 last week against Supreme Court.

#7 The Bullets (-2) vs. #10 Ortega

After playing Tallula Week 1, this is another tough week for the Bullets, who still have to play AD and Barifinkle in the next 3 weeks. Robert Gorodetsky will be targeted on Ortega's defense, and this game could hinge on The Bullets' shots being able to fall. With 6'5" Dillon Oberlin taking up space down low, it will be hard for The Bullets to get to the hoop, and we know that team likes to shoot. And although Ben Levine and Henry Werner's shots would be described as ugly at best, sometimes they get shots to fall.

#8 Mallard Magic & The Funky Bunch (-16) vs. #14 Supreme Court

Mallard Magic (formerly Brown) came into last season, like this season, with big expectations. Last year, they weren't able to produce, and after a Week 1 loss to Theo, it seems that even the addition of varsity basketball player Brian Frett hasn't made them any better this year. Unfortunately, they won't be tested too much with 0-1 Supreme Court, who outscored only #17 Phase 4, #18 Off In The Woods, and #19 Hank Mardukas Week 1.

#9 Medieval Times (-23) vs. #19 Hank Mardukas

A rivalry game of sorts as James Bartels, leader of Hank Mardukas, was the last man cut from Medieval Times: Dinner and Tournament (formerly Men). However, Hank Mardukas won't be able to do much against Alex Hankin, TJ Keene, and Mike Sopko. It seems that Hank Mardukas' only real competition this year will be with Off In The Woods and Phase 4, for worst team in the league.

#11 AD (-24) vs. #16 NWA

AD suffered its second loss in their last twelve games, both coming to Barifinkle/Team Sit on My Face. I still can't tell how good AD is: last year they seemed to never play a good team, and then were killed the one time they played someone good (Barifinkle). Now, they've added Alex Wislow, so they should be better, but it's hard to tell after playing Barifinkle Week 1. We still won't be able to gauge AD's skill level after this week because unfortunately NWA is horrible. AD should roll.

#12 Re-Elect Judge Jim Wascher (-20) vs. #15 Coot's Coot

Re-Elect Judge Jim Wascher didn't get any respect in the polls after dismantling Hank Mardukas by 37 last week. Another easy game for John Cook, Scott Gantner, and Judge Jim Wascher should put them 2-0 on the year. However, the easy schedule comes to an end there, with Judge Jim Wascher playing Medieval Times, The Bomb Squad, and The Express in the next 4 weeks. Coot's Coot (formerly Tuesday's With Morrie) could also put themselves in the category with Phase 4, Hank Mardukas, and Off In The Woods for worst team in the league.

Week 1 Recap

#1 Barfinkle/Team Sit on My Face 47 - #8 AD 32
IT WAS OVER WHEN...	GAME BALL GOES TO...	QUOTE
Brandon Batt wasn't able to produce 30 points. Barifinkle knew what they were dealing with when they played AD last year, and this year they shut down Batt again. Alex Wislow, making his Night League debut, was fairly effective, giving AD some much needed size down low.	Chris Sweitzer. Sweitzer scored 14 in his quest to prove himself as Night League MVP, including a few assists. Murnighan added double digits, with 10, but overall Barifinkle just warming up in their 9th consecutive regular season victory.	"Week 4" - Ryan Murnighan, who with a bye week 2, and #17 NWA week 3, is already focusing on 1-0 Tallula Week 4.

#2 The Bomb Squad 31 - #7 Boo Radley and Friends 29

Spencer Levin drained a one handed half-court shot (intended to be a pass), with 3 seconds left, and the ref wouldn't give Sperling the foul, after the inbound pass.	Matt Traub. Traub scored the bulk of the points for The Bomb Squad, who were surprised by a much improved Boo Radley and Friends. Spencer Levin was very effective with 15 points, including a bomb from half court. Peter Lind added a few steals for the Bomb Squad.	"We'll take the W" - A relieved Jeff Dsida: The Bomb Squad were 15 point favorites, and got a scare from Boo Radley and Friends.

After and 11-6 halftime score, The Express outscored Phase 4 20-3 in the second half. The game was highlighted by a whistle-happy ref, eager to blow whenever he could.	John Haller. He scored 14 points for the express, and 12 of their first 14. All 7 Express players scored with Kerby Hilarides helping with 5, Mike Hermanson 4, Matt Haller, Randy Petcov, Brantner Jones, and Tim Denenberg with 2.	"We need George Lopez to stop calling fouls on us" - Tim Denenberg, referring to the Hawaiian/Pacific Islander ref, who bore an eerie resemblance to Mr. Lopez.

Ben Morton: Morton scored 18 for Ortega. He got help from Dillon Oberlin, who is a leading candidate for tallest player. Oberlin got putback points for Ortega, who are out for vengeance after a weak preseason ranking.
